DINNER IN THE WEEDS
Naturgemalde is a German term coined by Alexander Von Humboldt, meaning the expansive, unified scene he experienced on mountain summits, where the entire world seemed interconnected. This dinner experience was a celebration of connection—honoring the land, its history, and the shared power of food. Through mindful presence and guided sensory practices, participants were invited to deeply reconnect with nature and one another, recognizing the gifts the earth provided and the injustices it had endured. Inspired by Humboldt’s concept of Naturgemalde, the gathering explored the unity of the world through what we ate, emphasizing the transformative power of food to not only nourish but also bring people together. From a shared appetizer to a thoughtfully curated entrée and dessert, each course served as a reminder of the interconnectedness of all life, fostering gratitude and a deeper understanding of our place in the world.
